About The Event
The inaugural Sydney Muslim Writers’ Festival will be held on 12 February 2022. It aims to provide a space for Muslim writers and thinkers to discuss and share their experiences and celebrate the growing literature of the Muslim community.
Writers will take part in a panel discussion and exchange ideas between the panellists and the audience. Audiences will have the opportunity to engage, learn and ask questions from the writers. The festival will include local and international writers from a diverse range of backgrounds.
The Sydney Muslim Writers’ Festival will take place at Bankstown Learning Centre. The festival is pioneered by ISRA in partnership with the Canterbury Bankstown City Council – home for many Muslims from diverse cultural backgrounds.
All lovers of books and knowledge are welcome. The programme targets all age groups, adults, families, youth, teenagers and school children from different backgrounds. A separate session will be allocated for children’s books, allowing younger readers to also take part and engage them with live readings and authors. To add extra life to the festival we will have performances, fun activities and arts corners including (but not limited to) calligraphy, henna, fine arts and many more.
With our city slowly returning to life after lockdown, we aim to bring hope and inspiration for a better future through the Inaugural Sydney Muslim Writers’ Festival.
