About The Event
Secret Third Thing is a hyper-real comment on this hyper-real moment: it is suff used with internet culture and reflections on the lives we live, now, largely online. What characterises Dan Hogan’s poetry is the way that, each time we come close to fully apprehending the impending collapse of capitalism, we are waylaid by something more urgent and mundane. To be non-binary, as these poems show, is not to just be a secret third thing, it is to bring class consciousness to bear upon gender.
Dan Hogan (they/them) is a writer from San Remo (Awabakal and Worimi Country). They currently live and work on Dharug and Gadigal Country (Sydney). Dan’s poetry and prose have been recognised by the Overland Judith Wright Poetry Prize, Val Vallis Award, XYZ Prize, Woollahra Digital Literary Award, and a Next Chapter Fellowship. In their spare time, Dan runs small publisher Subbed In. Secret Third Thing is Dan’s first book. More of their work can be found at: www.2dan2hogan.com
