About The Event
The latest publication from poet/performer Richard James Allen, More Lies is a meta-fictive tale, unreliably narrated by a writer who will draw on monologue, poetry, polemic or whatever is handy to save his skin. More Lies opens with our ‘hero’ being held hostage in his New York tenement apartment and forced to type to hide the manoeuvres of a femme fatale, holding a pearl-handled gun, and her brother, a small-time thug with big-time ambitions. Through a series of lies, backflips and alternative versions of the tale, the writer re-narrates his world, moving from being a trapped hack, forced to prostitute himself, to dazzling the world with the acrobatics of his imagination, to the heart of the matter: storytelling is all that is keeping us alive.
