Mark Humphries and Evan Williams in conversation with Dan Ilic
"This is a very funny book about Australian politics. Never has the saying "If you don't laugh, you'll cry" been more apt than when reading about Auspol...." - SOMEONE FAMOUS
Time & Location
10 Aug 2021, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm AEST
Newtown, 42 King St, Newtown NSW 2042, Australia
About The Event
To celebrate the release of On Politics and Other Stuff, join authors and resident ABC-TV 7.30 satirists Mark Humphries and Evan Williams as they show you the world of politics as you've never seen it before. They'll take you inside the halls of power. And if they can't actually get inside because of security, they'll do some very fun speculating on what might be in there.
This is a ticketed event. Bookings are essential as numbers are limited.
About the Book
If you love iambic pentameter, then look away because this book about Australian politics is pure prose, baby!
This book is quite possibly the most comprehensive book on Australian politics ever written. That's right, it covers both
houses of parliament. One thing we know for sure is that this book is unputdownable. Something went wrong with the printing and it's all sticky.
About the Authors
Mark Humphries and Evan Williams are the resident satirists on ABC TV's 7.30. They previously created satirical sketches for SBS's The Feed and ABC's The Roast. Neither of these shows were about food. In 2018, Prime Minister Scott Morrison wrote of one of their sketches: 'Love your work. Had a good laugh.' He's been a bit more quiet lately.
Mark's writing has appeared in The Guardian and the Sun Herald. As a presenter, Mark has guest hosted 'Talking Pictures' on ABC TV's Insiders and was the host of Network 10 quiz show Pointless . He was also the winner of Celebrity Mastermind but never likes to bring it up. Evan's writing has appeared in the New Yorker, McSweeney's, Sydney Morning Herald, The Guardian, The Monthly and The Mini Whiteboard on the Fridge Where he Writes the Grocery List.
