About The Event

Join us for an entertaining evening with Jenna Guillaume, who will discuss her debut YA novel What I Like About Me with our very own Mischa Parkee! With praise from the likes of Melina Marchetta, Clarie Christian and Clementine Ford (see below), this is a book that teens (and quite a few adults!) will adore.

About the Book

Meet Maisie Martin, a clever, shy, funny, confused 16-year-old. She's ready for the summer of her life - and to minutely record it in her journal. Until everything starts going wrong... You know those movies where teenagers have the summer of their lives? This summer is probably not going to be that.

Here lies Maisie Martin, dead from embarrassment, aged sixteen. The last thing Maisie Martin thought she'd be doing this summer is entering a beauty pageant. Not when she's spent most of her life hiding her body from everyone. Not when her Dad is AWOL for Christmas and her best friend starts going out with the boy she's always loved.

But Maisie's got something to prove. And she's not going to let anything or anyone - including herself - hold her back.

Praise

"Funny and heartfelt. I loved it." - Melina Marchetta

"I wish I could have read this when I was fifteen - it would have changed everything." - Claire Christian

"Teens are gonna LOVE this book. Such a sweet coming of age tale." - Clementine Ford

About the Author

Jenna Guillaume is currently editor-at-large for BuzzFeed Australia, where she writes about very important things like pop culture, identity, feminism, social media, and Chris Hemsworth's biceps.

Previously, she spent more than half a decade in the features department of Girlfriend magazine, editing the sealed section (yes, all those questions are real), and writing about everything from bullying and body image to bad kisses and boy bands.

She was also a contributor to Girlfriend Life Hacks, an essential guide to navigating a girl's completely-awkward-but-totally-awesome teen years.
