About The Event
Join in for a day of solidarity and honouring Palestinian culture through food and crafts. There will be a forum, from 12pm-1pm, hosted by Palestinian-Australian community organiser, Amal Naser, a proud third generation Palestinian refugee and organiser living on Gadigal land. She is currently in her fourth year of studying a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
Amal will be joined by Sara Saleh, a human rights lawyer, community organiser, writer, and the daughter of migrants from Palestine, Egypt and Lebanon, currently living on Gadigal land with her 2 cats Mocha and Chai, Arwa Abousamra, Palestinian Australian author born in Saudi Arabia, author of memoir Tea with Arwa published by Hachette 2011 and the author of short story Muslim footprint published in the Anthology Coming of Age by A&U 2014 and Dr. Barbara Bloch, convenor of Palestine Fair Trade Australia since 2016. She has worked in numerous capacities for many decades in solidarity with Palestinians, seeking a just peace in Palestine/Israel.
After the forum, you can stay on for some Palestinian lunch made with love by Nehad, who is originally from Gaza. Lunch tickets are limited so get in quick! You can also buy a slice or two of delicious Yummy Yummy Knafeh, the famous dessert that originated in Palestine. There will also be a Palestine Fair Trade stall!
