About The Event

This is a book of opinions and ideas with bite. It's news that talks back.

Founded in 2020, Cheek Media Co. quickly established itself as the go-to platform for daring feminist opinions on everything from right-wing politics to overcoming taboos around sex and pleasure. In Bite Back, Cheek co-founder Hannah Ferguson turns her sharp, progressive perspective on the issues that matter. Her bold ideas will provoke you to think, spark important conversations and inspire meaningful social change.

'A sharp-witted, whip-smart gift to the stale national media landscape. This book will revolutionise the discourse and readers' souls simultaneously.' Grace Tame

'Brace yourself for an engaging, heart-stirring read that challenges and inspires. It's a powerful call to action for a fairer world – an absolute must-read!' Chantelle Otten

'Intersectional feminist cheek, underscored by incisive intellectual commentary. It's great. Read it!' Tarang Chawla

Our event space is wheelchair accessible via a stair lift. Please contact events@betterread.com.au with any additional access requirements and/or questions.

Hannah Ferguson is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cheek Media Co, an independent Australian news commentary platform providing informed, progressive opinions on subjects that sit at the intersection of feminist, social and political issues. Cheek aims to make difficult topics accessible and entertaining, and to model hard and important conversations, mobilising changemakers in our community. Hannah has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Master of Publishing, Editing and Writing from The University of Queensland.

Heather McNab's first job was in a library, where she got fired for stealing a Diet Coke from the fridge. She went on to work as a journalist and political staffer for almost a decade and now works for a not-for-profit helping young people to elevate their voices through the media. Out of hours you’ll find her consuming an unhealthy amount of pop culture, mainlining the news, and running her bookstagram @sisterhoodofthetravellingrants with two of her friends.
