About The Event

A beautiful, expressive story that celebrates a child's love of the beach from a bestselling author and co-founder of the not-for-profit Moriarty Foundation.

A day at the seashore can be full of surprise, wonder and excitement.

Leap through the waves like a dolphin.

Glide through the water like a fish.

Soar along the sand with the seagulls.

What will you do when you go to the beach?

A lyrical story that celebrates the joy found exploring the coast from the bestselling author of Kangaroos Hop and the highly acclaimed illustrator of Bidhi Galing.

Ros Moriarty grew up in wild, pristine places in lutruwita/Tasmania, which inspired her love of writing about the natural world. She is the author of many books for young readers, including Beach Song, Ten Scared Fish, Kangaroos Hop, Splosh for The Billabong, Summer Rain, Bush Tracks, Rainbow, What's That There? and Who Saw Turtle? Ros has spent most of her professional life as creative and managing director of leading Australian design studio, Balarinji, and is co-founder of the not-for-profit Moriarty Foundation. She lives on Cammeraygal Country in Sydney.

Kate Simpson is a picture book author and bookworm who loves fact and fiction in equal measure. Raised on a diet of children's fiction, it was Kate's fascination with science that led her to her first career as a chemical engineer. Kate re-discovered her love of picture books after the birth of her children and now juggles a full-time job as an engineer with her writing work. Her books feature Australian history, science, curious kids and powerful women. Kate's fifth picture book, How To Move a Zoo, will be published in May.
