About The Event

Join Amanda Hampson, bestselling author of The French Perfumer and The Yellow Villa, for a high tea of scones, sandwiches, champagne and sweets to celebrate the release of Sixty Summers.

About the Book

Do you ever think about the hopes and dreams of your early twenties in contrast to your current life? What were the defining decisions or ‘sliding-door’ moments? Were there compromises that changed the direction of your life?

When Maggie, Fran and Rose left Australia for London in 1978, they all had strong aspirations for themselves and for each other. Now the three friends are about to turn sixty and each of them has a growing sense of dissatisfaction with their lives, as well as a feeling that time is running out to fulfil their own expectations.

Their lives have gone in different directions and during their annual catch-up phone call Rose forms an idea: the three women should retrace their footsteps backpacking Europe in an attempt to recapture the sense of freedom and purpose they once possessed.

What could possibly go wrong?

About the Author

Amanda Hampson grew up in rural New Zealand. She spent her early twenties travelling, finally settling in Australia in 1979 where she now lives in Sydney's Northern Beaches.

Writing professionally for more than 20 years, she is the author of two non-fiction books, numerous articles and novels The Olive Sisters, Two for the Road, The French Perfumer and The Yellow Villa.

In researching Sixty Summers, Amanda embarked a European trip retracing her own youthful journey from the 1970s and documented it on this blog. For more, see: amandahampson.com.au
