About The Event

Alan Wearne has been writing poetry since at least high school. Best known for his large-scale verse novels and sequences, he has been a major voice in Australian Poetry since the late 1960s. He was, with John Scott and Laurie Duggan, the Monash contingent in the ‘Generation of ’68’. For eighteen and a half years he taught at the University of Wollongong. Since 2011 he has been the publisher of Grand Parade Poets. Near Believing, his acclaimed selected monologues and narratives was published in 2022.

Jake Goetz has published two collections of poetry, meditations with passing water (Rabbit Poets Series, 2018), which was shortlisted for the Queensland Premier’s Award, and Unplanned Encounters: Poems 2015-2020 (Apothecary Archive, 2023). His third collection, Holocene Pointbreaks, is forthcoming with Puncher & Wattmann in mid-2024. He holds a Doctor of Creative Arts in Writing and Literature from the Writing & Society Research Centre (Western Sydney University) and currently lives on Gadigal land in Sydney’s Inner West.
