About The Event
Join award-winning author Dr Kate Forsyth as she explores the landscapes that shaped Jane Austen's novels.
From the Hampshire countryside of her childhood to the cottage garden at Chawton where she revised her masterpieces, discover how Austen's keen eye for "English verdure, English culture, English comfort, seen under a bright light…" infused her writing with a sense of place. Through readings, insights from Austen's letters, and stories which inspired Kate's own writing and her love of gardening, we'll uncover the landscapes that influenced one of England's most beloved writers.
Kate will also be sharing information about her new reading retreat with Better Read Tours this October: a literary pilgrimage through the secret gardens of Southeast England.
