Using the theme 'Twist of Fate' as inspiration, write a creative piece of fiction with a maximum of 1000 words.

The Prizes

The top entries will be collated into an anthology produced by Better Read Publishing, which will be launched at a special in-store event, and sold thereafter at Better Read Than Dead bookshop. The winning entry will receive a $150 store voucher, with $75 vouchers for the two runners-up.

The Judging Panel

All entries will be reviewed by our special peer judge, Ayesha Salier, who is a Year 10 student working at Better Read Than Dead. As an aspiring author herself, Ayesha was aware of how hard it is to find competitions and opportunities to write that cater towards people her age, which is why she has taken the reins for this competition and allowed our budding teen writers in on the fun!

How to Submit Your Story

To enter you will need to submit your story via our online system, by clicking 'SUBMIT NOW' below, by February 5 2020. Entries will need to be submitted in size 12 Times New Roman font, with double spacing.
